When you think of Delaware, rivers aren’t usually the first thing that comes to mind. However, almost all the state’s eastern border is the tidal estuary of the Delaware River—Delaware Bay. The Delware River is truly massive at the end of it’s journey in Delaware and is the state’s most well-known river resource. Smaller rivers and streams in the state flow either east into the Delaware Bay or west into the Chesapeake Bay.

Delaware only has 2,183 miles of river, but 94.7 miles are designated as wild and scenic—almost 4.5% of the state’s river miles!
